Why do we list 25 Runes on this page, instead of the original 24?
There are two main schools of thought when dividing the Viking Runes into categories and meanings. The old 'Futhark' order goes from left to right, with 3 'aetten', or 3 groups of 8. This may correspond to the 3 main scales of ancient music for singing, and the word 'Futhark' adds up the same number as 'sing'. The Runes have been seen on some ancient music scores, but it is not known if the symbols were for notes to help people sing better. The messages within the older Runes also changed depending on the five elements, earth, air, fire, water and ether.
The newer school of thought using 25 Runes goes from right to left, and the order follows similar meanings and the same vibrations as basic numerology. This makes much more sense in the modern interpretation of Runes when they are drawn in these sessions, and they make more sense in this order of 5 groups of 5. "Runes" adds up to 5, which is the good manager in numerology.

History of the
Viking Runes
The Runes have been used world-wide in formal ceremonies since 100 BC, and the alphabet was based on special symbols that have been passed down from generations in Europe since 1000 BC.
The symbols were then called 'haellristningar', which adds up to 77, a special double-number for language and interpretation. The tradition of passing down these messages to generations was called 'legomonism', which adds up to 50, a special number in the I-ching and numerology. The word 'Runes' adds up to 23, and all of these are the same vibration of 5 (77, 50 & 23).
